'83 THE GAME

‘83 is a Cold-War-Gone-Hot, combined arms, first-person military shooter that pits two large platoons of players against each other in massive maps, fighting over a number of objectives that have a tangible impact on the battle as a whole when held by the victorious faction.

Players will have access to a selection of real-world infantry weapons and equipment, as well as a selection of powerful land vehicles which can decisively turn the tide of a battle.

Alternative History

1983 was a tense year for global politics. With Western powers ramping up anti-Soviet rhetoric and the Soviets responding in kind, it represented one of the most dangerous years in the 20th century.

In ‘83, these tensions explode into a global conflict where ‘what if’ has become ‘when’. Birthed from the timeline of the real Cold War, sabre-rattling escalates to a World War for dominance between two nuclear superpowers.

Factions

‘83 will launch with two playable factions, NATO and the Warsaw Pact:

NATO – The North Atlantic Treaty Organization, or North Atlantic Alliance is a multi-government military organization founded in 1949. A superpower committed to preserving the ideology of the capitalist West; in the world of ‘83 NATO must fight a war of containment to stop the spread of communist toxicity across the globe.

Warsaw Pact – Previously known as the Treaty of Friendship, Co-Operation and Mutual Assistance, the Warsaw Pact consists of the Soviet Union and seven Soviet satellite states. Founded during the Cold War to oppose the globalist agenda of their capitalist enemies, the Warsaw pact fights to ensure that the glorious Marxist ideals of the USSR are upheld.

Weapons

‘83’s weapons are authentic to their real-world counterparts. All weapons work as players would expect in the real world, with systems such as ballistic modeling, penetration, real-world accurate recoil and advanced weapon handling putting the most iconic weapons of the Cold War in your hands.

Each weapon and gadget has been meticulously designed and animated according to their real life counterpart, and behave in a realistic way: the barrels and suppressors overheat when rapid firing, machineguns are better deployed on a stable surface, and bullets don’t magically teleport in between magazines when you reload a half-empty one.

Accessible Realism

We aim to make everything as realistic as possible, until the point where it stops being fun and becomes tedious instead, then we ratchet it back one notch.

’83 is also mindful of your time, and takes you to action fast, but does not neglect the lethality of war. You can absolutely still die fast, but should that happen, you’re back in business within a minute or two. However your squad needs you, and every death matters, as the matches are only 30-40 minutes long.

The tactical aspect of ’83 lies in the objective focused flow of every match that simply requires teamwork to win. Clutch situations when capturing key objectives on the map can be solved with smart flanks, diversions, or well-timed fire missions, all coordinated across multiple squads within a team.
